Reflection 3
Before attending this session, I had assumed that blogs were primarily used by professional writers and content creators. However, I came to realize their significant potential in education, particularly for maintaining reports, recording lessons, and writing reflective journals. This session has inspired me to incorporate blogging into my own practice, both as a tool for personal reflection and as a means to encourage my students to develop their reflective writing skills.
Another session focused on creating interactive learning experiences using SCORM(Click HERE for more information), which stands for "Sharable Content Object Reference Model." SCORM is a specification developed by the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative from the Office of the United States Secretary of Defense. This tool allows educators to design interactive content such as quizzes, cloze tests, and crossword puzzles. During the session, we used tools like HotPotatoes and Wondershare to create SCORM packages, which can later be integrated into the VLE for students to engage with.
One of the features I found particularly valuable is that SCORM packages can also be used offline, providing an advantage over tools that require constant internet access. Additionally, I learned about eXeLearning, another tool that can be used to generate SCORM packages. This session was highly informative and has broadened my perspective on the various ways interactive content can enhance the learning experience, and I am eager to apply these tools in my teaching practice.
